Tourism in the Algarve continues to grow by leaps and bounds, consolidating the region as one of the most sought-after destinations in Portugal and Europe. This increase in visitors is reflected not only in the beaches and coastal towns, but also in wine tourism, with a growing number of tourists exploring the region’s famous wineries.
One of the great attractions for wine tourists is Adega do Cantor, located in Albufeira, which has seen a significant increase in the number of visitors in recent months. This winery, owned by businessman Joaquim Pires, has been a point of reference for wine lovers who wish to learn about the production process of some of the region’s most renowned wines.
According to recent data, Adega do Cantor recorded a 25% increase in the number of visits compared to the same period last year. This growth is largely attributed to the return of international tourism after the pandemic, as well as the growing interest in Algarve winemaking, which has been gaining prominence on the world wine scene.
Visitors have the opportunity to participate in guided tours of the property, where they can learn about the vineyards, understand the winemaking process and, of course, taste locally produced wines, such as the famous “Vida Nova”. These experiences have attracted both international tourists and the national public, interested in exploring a lesser-known facet of the Algarve.
The managers of Adega do Cantor revealed that, to accommodate the increased demand, improvements have been made to the infrastructure and the range of activities has been expanded, including private events and harvest programs that allow visitors to actively participate in wine production.
This increase in wine tourism not only benefits local wineries but also contributes to the diversification of tourism in the Algarve, attracting an audience seeking authentic and high-quality experiences. With tourism booming, the sector is expected to continue to thrive, bringing more opportunities to the local economy and further promoting the Algarve’s reputation as a top tourist destination.
