The Essence of Quinta do Miradouro
A story born from the land, the sun, and a passion for wine
At Quinta do Miradouro, each bunch of grapes carries with it a piece of the history and terroir of the Algarve.
In the early 2000s, Adega do Cantor was founded by the famous British singer Sir Cliff Richard. Passionate about the Algarve and the world of wine, Cliff Richard teamed up with local partners to create a unique winery, with the aim of producing high-quality wines in perfect harmony with the sunny climate and character of the terroir. This initiative gave rise to the Vida Nova range, which quickly gained recognition for the excellence of its carefully selected grape varieties.
Located on sun-drenched hills caressed by the sea breeze, the vineyard was planted in 2001 with Syrah, Aragonês, and Alicante Bouschet—the latter a rare Teinturier grape variety from the south of France, known for its red pulp and the finesse it imparts to wines.
In 2011, Viognier joined the range of grape varieties, bringing floral aromas and elegance to the production, where tradition and modernity coexist in perfect harmony, giving rise to authentic and memorable wines.
In 2021, Quinta do Miradouro began a new chapter under the direction of Joaquim Pires. This change marked the beginning of an era of modernization and innovation, with significant investments in infrastructure and a reinforced commitment to sustainable practices, always respecting the identity and essence that have made the estate a benchmark in Algarve viticulture.

The Algarve, known for its luminous landscapes and unmistakable climate, offers unique conditions for the production of superior quality wines. Between rolling hills and maritime influences that moderate the southern heat, the region reveals a distinctive terroir, marked by limestone soils and ocean breezes that favor balanced grape ripening.
It is in this privileged setting that the essence of our estate is born: wines that reflect the authenticity, character, and vibrant spirit of the Algarve, a land of sunshine, tradition, and winemaking excellence.
Each wine is born from a deep respect for the fruit and the territory. Our process is based on manual harvesting, with minimal and delicate handling of the grapes, supported by gentle extraction technology and temperature-controlled vats, which preserve all the purity of the fruit.
The harmony between innovation and traditional winemaking is one of our pillars. The fermentation of red wines in open vats with a covered pumping-over system revives ancestral methods still practiced in the Douro and Dão regions. Pressing is carried out using a modernized version of the vertical press, ensuring delicacy, while the pneumatic press ensures precision in the production of whites and rosés.
We also believe that the winery should be an open and transparent space. All areas are easily accessible to visitors during the winemaking process, offering an authentic view of our daily work. Our French and American oak barrels, mainly used for top wines, complement the tour, which ends in the boutique and tasting room, where visitors can discover our wines in a welcoming and engaging environment.

Monica, was amazing. Such a good tour of cool wine cellar, where we tried amazing wines , vineyard was very hot luckily there was a shade in the drying circle and seats, and then the factory we saw a worker put labels in bottles, so cool. I learned a lot about wine and corks. This was Deffo my fave tour in the ten days I’m here in albuferia . Only 20 euro each and I learned so much. Monica is very passionate. Thanks. Obrigada! Very short Uber from albuferia only 6 euro , and then very quick walk to shopping centre (Guia ) next door. Great day we had. Love from Ireland.

We went for a tour as a family of 6 and had a fabulous time! We didn’t make a reservation but that was no problem, Monica was more than happy to accommodate us when we arrived. She was welcoming and gave us a very informative tour taking time to answer our questions and we ended the tour with a tasting of 4 wines. A must visit if you are in the area for the tour, the views at the vineyard and the delicious wines.

Amazing wine tasting experience! Me and my wife have just popped in without a booking, seeing this as an attraction around the area as we stayed in Albufeira for 3 days. We couldn’t have a full tour as it had to be pre-booked but the lovely lady at the shop invited us in for a wine tasting experience! Amazing! The wines were all very good and she has had loads of knowledge about them, about the area and not only. We ended up buying a bottle of rose wine to enjoy for later, which was delicious. Definitely recommend the experience! Well done!
